Registration, rules, and application for NHV operation in Williamsville

The Village of Williamsville permits non-highway vehicles (NHVs) — including ATVs, golf carts, and UTVs — to operate on designated streets. Please review the rules and map below before applying. Electronic application is required; there is no paper version. If you have any questions, contact Village Hall or the Police Department. Enjoy your cruising!

Administrative Rules

The following rules apply to all ATVs, golf carts, UTVs, and other non-highway vehicles operating within the Village of Williamsville.

  1. UTVs and ATVs will not have modified suspension systems which raise the height of vehicles. Golf carts will be allowed a maximum of a three-inch lift.

  2. NHVs will be required to have factory tires or similar tires designated for such vehicle.

  3. If the appearance (e.g., body or paint) of an NHV has been modified since the date of registration, it is the owner's responsibility to transport the NHV to the Police Department so records and photographs can be updated.

  4. Seatbelts installed by the manufacturer must be worn at all times.

  5. Operators of NHVs will adhere to the designated road map indicating which roads may or may not be used for travel. The Williamsville Police Department will provide a copy of this map.

  6. Operators of an NHV will not operate the NHV while using an electronic communication device.

The Williamsville Police Department has discretion to deny issuance or revoke NHV permits.
